Nature
“The Earth gives us free oxygen, puts us to sleep, wakes us up with the sun in the morning, lets the birds sing, the currents and breezes move, it creates this wonderful world to share, and what do we do with it? What we are experiencing could be the work of a loving mother who decided to silence her son at least for a moment. Not out of lack of love, but because he wants to teach her something. « Son, silence. » The Earth is saying that to humanity. And she is so wonderful that it is not an order. She is simply asking: “Silence. »”Tomorrow is not for sale, Ailton Krenak, 2020.

Endemic flowers
Paint markers on paper, 70 x 100 cm, 2023
These flowers are endemic to the Southern Cone. Unless we are botanists, we do not know many of the names of flowers and plants in general, especially those that have no obvious use for humans. Our language shapes the way we understand reality. That which we do not name does not exist. Knowing the names of plants could be the first step to letting the extinction of certain species not matter to us.
Herbertia - Erythrina (ceibo) - Myrrhinium (ironwood) - Feijoa sellowiana - Acianthera – Oncidium - Prunus subcoriacea (brave peach) - Eichhornia (water hyacinth) - Passiflora (passion fruit)

The bat is the pollinator of the agave. It feeds on its nectar, which serves as fuel to migrate each winter. Without bats, we wouldn't have mezcal. However, the increase in demand for this liquor means that the agave is harvested before producing nectar and the bats have a shortage of fuel.

The victoria regia is the largest of the water lilies (2.5 meters). This name was given by English explorers in tribute to Queen Victoria.
The Tupi-Guarani myth of the royal victory tells that Jaci, a moon-goddess, made young girls fall in love and turned them into stars to accompany her. A young woman in love with the goddess walked one night in search of her, until she saw her reflection in the river. He threw himself into the river, thinking he had found her, and drowned. The goddess, moved, transformed her into a water star: a water lily flower that blooms at night and accompanies her.
